About the Principal

Dr. Jabimol C Maitheen is an able administrator with more than thirteen years of teaching and research experience. She obtained her bachelor’s and master’s degree, B.Ed and M.Ed from MG University, Kottayam. She further studied Computer and Manual Accounting from Institute of Accounts and got her MBA from Bharathiyar University, Coimbatore. After qualifying for UGC NET, she completed her doctorate from Bharathidasan University, Trichy, one of the best Universities in India. Throughout her career, Dr Jabimol has made sure to have an open and friendly relationship with her students allowing them to learn the practical difficulties of being a teacher and how to tackle it efficiently. She has taken charge as principal of Al-Azhar Training College from 2015 onwards. To her credit, she has published more than 10 articles in various journals. The college has thrived under her careful leadership and has become one of the best self-financing training colleges in Idukki.

Education is the most powerful weapon which we can use to change the world. It is a process of acquiring knowledge, skills, values, beliefs and habits. Education helps us to realize our self and prepares us to meet new challenges too. In the process of education, teacher education is a programme that is related to the
development of teacher proficiency and competence that would enable and empower the teacher to meet the requirements of the profession and face the challenges therein. We believe that Education cannot be imparted in vacuum to the children, it is only a teacher who can shape the clay and mould it according to the requirements of time and trends of the society. There is no doubt that education is the instrument of social change. But it is the teacher who plays his positive role in bringing such a change. The teacher has to identify the talents and potentials hidden in the learner and nurture these. Teacher is bestowed with the greatest responsibility of nurturing the mind of learners. Practical aspect of training the teachers is emphasized and taken care of special attention to foster among its faculty and students. Al-Azhar Training College is scaling new heights in academic excellence and social commitment.
